A gallery of my work organized by year.
Steve goes on a journey to the stars.. whether he wants to or not!
Exposure: 10 seconds @ f/4.8
Manually triggered strobe at 1/32 power below and behind the skull to give just a touch of fill inside the jar.
Editing: color, contrast and cropping.
Been a few days since my last post. I am slowly making up for missed days.  We’ve had some significant medical issues going on here at home that has kept the camera in the bag for the last week.  I’ll make up the missed days over the next few weeks.
Now that the excuses are out of the way, how about a photo:
I know, I skipped day 10 and day 11 is a bit after midnight.  I’m planning two sets tomorrow to make up for it.
I shot this on tripod with the following settings:
10.0 sec @ f/16, 35mm, ISO 100, tripod mount, rear curtain to minize the effects of slight vibrations of hitting the trigger. (I’ve lost my wireless trigger).
The left strobe behind a snoot was at 1/2 power with an orange filter to keep from casting to blue a light into the scene.
The right strobe was at 1/16 and an umbrella to give a smooth, even, very very subtle fill light to the scene.
I’ve included a shot without the strobes so you can see how they really light up the scene without overpowering it.
I also have a shot showing the setup for those interested.
A simple one tonight. I received a tabletop lightbox from my mother-in-law for Christmas 2011. I haven’t done much with it since very few of my models will fit in an 18x18x18 inch cube.    I’ve included a shot of the setup so you can see how I did it. This one is very simple, but for doing product shots, it’s a nice setup.
A bit of a migraine tonight so creativity is pretty much out the window. I decided to give a lens a friend gave me a test. It’s a Vivitar close focus lens. I haven’t been able to find much info online about it, but it’s a pretty nice lens. I’ve uploaded a full resolution version of the image so you can see the level of detail the lens gives me from about 4-5 inches away.

I can’t take full credit for this one. Wendi got bored and this is the results. I took the shot, Wendi set up the skull, wreath, and lights.
Skull-in-a-Jar decided to surf the net tonight. I came back from dinner to this sight.  Somehow I’m not surprised.
Running a little late tonight so I had to improvise.  I give you; The Sinister Skull!
(because we all know only the villains are lit from beneath)
